Altísimo Live! on May 5

I’m normally not a “celebrate Cinco de Mayo” type of guy. Over the years it’s grown into a reason for people to just go out and drink. In terms of Mexican history, it’s a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. But do people really celebrate that in the U.S. – nope.

However, coincidently (or on purpose), this May 5, 2020, Altísimo Live! introduces the ultimate LIVESTREAM Latin Music and Pop Culture Festival in support of the silent heroes feeding us and keeping our nation moving…frontline farmworkers. According to their website, This historic livestream benefit will aim to raise $3 million – $5 at a time – for the Farmworkers Pandemic Relief Fund and will include a jam-packed day of at-home, all-star performances, celebrity activations, comedy skits, and much more.

Altísimo Live! officially kicks off on @AltisimoLive’s Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Periscope, and Twitch accounts simultaneously on Tuesday, May 5th at 10:00 a.m. PT/ 1:00 p.m. ET with an interactive livestream tailgating experience that will include entertainers, comedians, chefs, social media influencers, and other surprise personalities. iHeartLatino and PEOPLE en Español will also carry parts or all of the broadcast at various times on one or more of their respective livestream and/or broadcast platforms. It doesn’t end here though.

At 5:00 p.m. PT/ 8:00 p.m. ET, the groundbreaking interactive festival transforms into a series of continuous musical performances and interactive Q&A’s and experiences with the artists.

Even though the online benefit is free, the festival features a call to action for viewers to give cinco this cinco (#CincoOnCinco), with a $5 or more donation online or via text by texting CINCO to 91999.

This is a smart move to add Cinco de Mayo as the date of the performance since technically most of the country is still under a stay at home order. So drink at the comfort of your own home and watch great performances?! Yes. Don’t mind if we do.

The line-up is great and includes artists and entertainers such as J Balvin, Rosario Dawson, Adamari Lopez, Becky G, CNCO, Farruko, Ivy Queen, Los Tigres del Norte, and much more.
