Most Culturally Diverse Cities in the U.S.

We have come to that time of year when Wallet Hub ranks the most & least ethnically diverse cities in the U.S. We have to remember that diverse does not only include racial or ethnic backgrounds.

According to Wallet Hub, to identify the most ethnically diverse places in the country, they compare more than 500 of the largest cities across three key metrics: ethnoracial diversity, linguistic diversity and birthplace diversity.

Most Diverse:

  1. Jersey City, NJ
  2. Gaithersburg, MD
  3. Germantown, MD
  4. Spring Valley, NV
  5. Silver Spring, MD
  6. New York, NY
  7. Rockville, MD
  8. Oakland, CA
  9. San Jose, CA
  10. Kent, WA

Least Diverse:

  1. Wheeling, WV
  2. Augusta, ME
  3. Miles City, MT
  4. Laconia, NH
  5. Rutland, VT
  6. Clarksburg, WV
  7. Barre, VT
  8. Watertown, SD
  9. Hialeah, FL
  10. Parkersburg, WV

It’s interesting to see Hialeah, FL in the least diverse. As it relates to ethnicity, Hialeah has the highest concentration of Latinos, at 96.05%. On the other end, Rutland, VT has the highest concentration of whites, at 94.95%. In addition, MS has the highest concentration of blacks, at 81.8%.

You can see the change in most and least cities in a previous post I wrote.
